Janie Forestene Baldwin Cook

Janie Forestene Baldwin Cook was the last of four children born to Ressie and Forest Baldwin on July 15, 1950 in Hobart, OK. She passed from this life on December 5, 2025 in Yukon, OK at the age of 75.
Janie was predeceased by her parents, one brother, Stan, Don Turner, and Phil Burk.
Janie graduated from high school in Mountain View, OK in 1968. She graduated from Southern Nazarene University (formerly Bethany Nazarene College) in 1970 with an Associate’s Degree. As a freshman, she enjoyed playing basketball on the girls’ basketball team. Shortly after graduation, she married Phillip Burk of Mountain View who attended the University of Oklahoma at the time. She worked at the Federal Reserve Bank three years before their daughter, Sunny Rachelle, was born on July 5, 1977. After their divorce in 1978, Janie went back to work at the Federal Reserve Bank. She was in the banking industry for a total of 25 years. In 1980, she met Don Turner of Tuttle, OK – also in banking. They were married on February 14, 1981. Their son, Jacob Brent was born on December 6, 1982. Don died tragically in November of 1999. They were members of Trinity Church of the Nazarene in Oklahoma City, OK.
Janie grew up singing in a little country church starting at the age of 5. She also enjoyed singing at family gatherings. She was baptized at age 12, then again in 2012 to demonstrate her new found love for Jesus. She was also deeply involved in genealogy and put together a family history book going back to the 1700s.
Janie married Norman Keith Cook on May 3, 2015. She had dated him 35 years earlier. They attended Crossings Community Church in Oklahoma City, OK from the time they were married.
Janie is survived by her husband, Norm, of the home; daughter, Sunny Hodges; son, Brent & Heidi Turner, all of OKC; 7 grandchildren: Denver Adams, Kaitlyn, Sydney, Alexa and Jackson Turner, all of OKC, and Miles and Austin Hodges of Branson, MO; two sisters, Mary and Bob Eisenhour of Minco, OK, and Donna and Tom Gage of Yukon, OK; sister-in-law, Elaina Baldwin Arnold and Jim of Blanchard, OK; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service for Janie Cook will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Crossings Community Church in Oklahoma City, OK.
A private family viewing will be held Friday, December 12, 2025, from 8:30- 9:30 a.m. at Sevier Funeral Home in Tuttle, OK. A committal will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Tuttle, OK under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
