Tony Melton was born on May 6, 1972, to Edward and Ida Mae Melton in Anadarko, Oklahoma, as the youngest of six siblings. He was a graduate of Canadian High School Class of 1990 and upon graduation he joined the United States Marine Corps. He began his law enforcement career at Wewoka Police Department, then Seminole Nation Lighthorse, Konawa Police Department, Caddo County Sheriff’s Office, and lastly as Chief of Police in Carnegie.
Mr. Melton was passionate about outdoor activities, including hunting and fishing, and valued time spent with friends and family. Known for his friendly demeanor and willingness to assist those in need, he developed strong connections within his community. He never met a stranger and never ran short of stories and jokes. He was larger than life and he will certainly be missed.
He is survived by his wife, Robyn; children: Chenee Chamness (and husband Shawn) of Olympia, Washington, Priscilla Harrison and Emilio Ramos of Carnegie, Oklahoma, Joshua Melton and Kaylie of Cordell, Oklahoma, and Eli Melton of the home. Other survivors include his brother, Johnnie Melton (and wife Michelle) of Anadarko, Oklahoma; sister, Sherry Newton (and husband Bennie) of Marlow, Oklahoma; grandchildren Rya, Shane, Bryson, Skarlett, Julian, Blaikly, Arya, and Addilynn; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Mr. Melton was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ida Mae Melton; brothers, Kenny Melton and Royce Melton; sister, Debby Melton; nephew, Tanner Melton; and son, Dalton Melton.
Pallbearers will be Shane Melton, Dale Melton, Peyton Hunter, Gabriel Walker, Vincent Walker, Ezekiel Solano, and Josiah Hunter. Honorary pallbearers include Brandon Farber, Thomas Fouts, Charlie Bob Evans, all his nephews and all fellow law enforcement officers.
Visitation was from 3-8 p.m., Monday, April 13, 2026, and from 1-5 p.m., Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Ray & Martha’s Funeral Home, Carnegie.
A Wake was held from 5- 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Ray & Martha’s Funeral Home, Carnegie.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 15, 2026, and Long View Church at Binger, Oklahoma.
Interment was in the Melton Family Cemetery at Anadarko, Oklahoma.
Services were under the direction of Ray & Martha’s Funeral Home, Carnegie, Oklahoma.
