Crystal Gayle (Payne) Behrent

Crystal Gayle (Payne) Behrent, 49, of Lawton, Oklahoma, passed away on May 27, 2023, after a brief illness.

Crystal was born on May 19, 1974 to Virgil and Brenda Payne in Cordell, Oklahoma. Crystal graduated from high school in Tyrone, OK in 1992, after which she went on to study marketing at Cameron University in Lawton, OK, graduating in 1997 with a Bachelor’s degree.

Crystal raised two daughters, Brittany and Ryann. They were a source of joy for Crystal and she was very proud of all that they have accomplished. Crystal was thrilled to have two granddaughters, Kayden and Kyler. She loved to tell stories about her granddaughters and she genuinely loved getting to spoil them on any and every occasion.

Crystal made Lawton, OK, her home and she was extremely supportive of military families and very proud of her country. Crystal was the Lead Military Pay Technician for One Stop Processing at the Army Military Pay Office Fort Sill for 17 years and she truly loved her job. She invested her time into her many, many friends and the adventures she had with them. Crystal built very solid, life-long relationships with many people and stacked up a life time of memories in her short time here.

Crystal’s impact will never be fully known, but it has reached far and wide.

Crystal Behrent was predeceased by her grandparents, Charles and Thelma Payne of Mt. View, OK, and Ralph and Violet Hicks of Kermit, TX. She is survived by her daughter, Brittany Smith; son-in-law, Michael Smith; Kayden and Kyler Smith of Duncan, Oklahoma; daughter, Ryann Behrent and fiancé, Logan Jensen, of Comanche, Oklahoma; parents, Virgil and Brenda Payne of Mt. View, OK; sister, Beverly Henson, James Henson and Breeanna Henson of Wheatland, Oklahoma; brother, Robert Payne, Erin Payne, Braden, MacKenzie, MaKaila and Zechariah Payne of Mt. View, OK; grandmother, Alline Hicks of Kermit, TX, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved her dearly.

A Celebration of Crystal’s life will be held at Life Community Church on June 2 at 2 p.m. in Lawton, OK.
