Lanya Ann Swanda

Lanya Ann Swanda passed away on December 16, 2023, in Lawton, OK. She was born on August 19, 1940, in Carnegie, OK, to Lewis & Dollie (Burton) Swanda.

Lanya attended school at Broxton Public School, Saint Patrick’s Mission School and Apache Public School. She was a colorful character that enjoyed telling “Aunt” jokes to connect with the younger generations of family and friends. Lanya was always upbeat, happy, and optimistic. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends and telling people that she was “fat and sassy” when asked how she was doing. She always had a jigsaw puzzle out on her dedicated puzzle table to work on and enjoyed doing word searches and reading. Lanya was always up for an adventure and had enjoyed traveling to most regions of the U.S. with her family.

Lanya, a unique and cherished soul, brought immeasurable joy to those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her siblings: Danny Swanda, Apache, OK, Lynda Sodhi, Apache, OK, LaNita Graham and husband, Hank Newmark, Oklahoma City, OK; nephews and nieces: Robert Swanda, Apache, OK, Kent Swanda and wife, Tamey, Apache, OK, Dayne Swanda and wife Nina, Apache, OK, Rani Yadav-Ranjan and husband, Rajiv, San Jose, CA, Sonia Kohli and husband, Sanjay, Saint Paul, MN, Prince Sodhi and wife, Kanwal, Walnut Creek, CA, Gary Lynn Orrell and wife, Shellie, Shawnee, OK, Anita Thomasser, Jasper, MO, Thomas Sodhi and wife, Tristen, Cypress, TX, as well a h host of many other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Dollie (Burton) Swanda; sister, LaWana Swanda; brother, Ronald Swanda; brothers-in-law, Mike Graham and Jag Sodhi,; sister-in-law, Mary Joyce Swanda, and great-niece, Summer Lynn Swanda.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023, in the Carnegie Cemetery in Carnegie, OK.
