Keith Michael Vasquez

Keith Michael Vasquez was born December 3, 1954, to John Thomas Franco Vasquez and Delphine Shemayme Vasquez. He passed away on November 24, 2024, after a lengthy illness. He started school at St. Patrick’s Mission then transferred to Anadarko Public Schools where he graduated in 1973.
In 1988, he met the love of his life, Herbette Parton, when he was playing in an oldies band. They got married the following year on April 28. If anybody knew Keith, they knew all he ever wanted to be was a radio announcer, aka a “DJ”. Throughout his career, he went by “Keith Michaels.” He started out at a small station in Wichita Falls. Worked at several all over Oklahoma, including Weatherford, Lawton and Chickasha. He made a name for himself doing a rock show called Night Rock 98. He found his country roots at KLAW in Lawton. He ended his career at KOOL 105.5 in Chickasha.
For the next phase in his life, the public relations job was created for him to represent the Kiowa Tribe. He was responsible to carry on the legacy of the Kiowa newspaper. He also produced the Saturday radio show called “Kiowa Voices.” Almost every year he was the voice and video of the American Indian Expo Parade. Keith was musically and artistically talented. He was self-taught on drums, guitar, and bass guitar teaching his brothers, sister, daughter and grandchildren.
He loved his teams: OU Sooners, OKC Thunder, New York Yankees, LA Lakers and the Oakland/ Las Vegas Raiders.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Victoria Vasquez Tsehai; daughter, Robin Gayle Gomez; and nephew, Terry Alan Wetselline.
He is survived by his wife, Herbette; his daughter, Jennifer James and spouse Camero RedThunder; son, Nathan Dale Gomez and spouse Ashlee; granddaughters, Bethany Lynn Daingkau, Taylor Marie Satepeahtaw, Dhani Roe Post, Savannah Joy Gomez and Alexandria Rose Gomez. He is also survived by grandsons, Peyton Michael Post, Caylob Gage Satepeahtaw, and Hunter Rhys Gomez.; and sisters, Jennifer Faith and husband Lance Littlechief, Toni Pierce, and Maria Elena Vasquez. Brothers Nicholas John Vasquez, Manuel Thomas Vasquez and wife Henrietta, George Earnest Vasquez, and Rusty Traywick. He is also survived by a host of nephews, nieces, and grandchildren; honorary daughter, Meredith Sherman and honorary grandchildren: TJay Gastineau, Landon Sheffield and Adriana Manzanares.
Funeral service were scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2024, Cedar Creek United Methodist Church in Carnegie. A Wake service was held at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 2024, at Cedar Creek United Methodist Church in Carnegie. Interment was in the Samone Cemetery in Carnegie.
Services were under the direction of Ray and Martha's Funeral Home in Carnegie.
