Delpha Louise Dowdy

Delpha Louise Dowdy passed from this life on June 5, 2025, at home surrounded by family at the age of 86.  She was born on March 20, 1939, in Swink, Oklahoma to Pleas and Ruby (Brown) Hayes.  Louise attended her early years of school in Lawton and finished in Altus.
She married the love of her life William Arthur “Bill” Dowdy Jr., when he returned from serving in the Korean War, on September 17, 1960, and they were blessed with three children:  Jim, Linda and Bill. They made Gotebo their home and raised their children. Louise loved to cook and loved to have family and friends over to cook for, liked to watch her stories, enjoyed camping and was one of the founding members of the New Life Christian Fellowship Church in Gotebo, when the church closed, she and Bill became members of the Gotebo First Baptist Church. Louise especially loved spending time with her family.
Louise is survived by sons, Jim Dowdy of Gotebo, Bill Dowdy of Hobart, and daughter Linda Woody and husband Jeff of Snyder. She leaves a legacy of grandchildren:  Kayli York and husband Steven, Taylor Peralta and husband Chad, Sarah Dowdy and Blaine Hastie and wife Cora, and great grandchildren, Austin and Emrie York., brothers Larry Williams of Hobart, sister Betty Hardy of North Carolina, and Carl Orr and wife Carolyn of Tulsa. Louise is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Pleas and Ruby Hayes, husband Bill Dowdy, siblings Harry Hayes, Jewel Moran, Sherman Hayes and Mary Ann Orr. 
Services for Louise were held Tuesday, June 10, 2025, 2:00 P.M., Gotebo First Baptist Church, with Pastor David Lawrence officiating and Carl Orr assisting.  Interment will followed at Gotebo Cemetery.
