Darren Geimausaddle

Darren Geimausaddle, 65, of Holdenville, Oklahoma, passed away at home on July 15, 2025.
He was born on December 1, 1959, to Dave and Melva Gene (Tinetiah) Geimausaddle in Los Angeles, California. Darren was the youngest son/brother in our family. During our relocation years, Darren grew up in Mountain View, OK, and Bell Gardens, California, graduating in 1977. Darren’s first job was with the Postal Service. He was a mailman in Los Angeles County. After calming too many dogs and walking too many miles, he was ready to train as a firefighter in 1989 with the U.S. Forest Service, Northern Region. He then decided to attend Haskell Junior College in Kansas and received his Associate of Arts Degree in 1990. He worked as a librarian technician at the Haskell Indian Nations University. He also worked at the Palo Duro Canyon Museum in 1994. During his years in Lawrence, Kansas, he was a contributing writer for the Kansas State University Alliance school newspaper, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1996.
In 1997, the Kiowa Tribe appointed him to serve on the Kiowa Museum and Resource Board. When our parents retired to Sugar Creek/Mountain View, Darren returned to Oklahoma to work for the State of Oklahoma, Great Plains Correctional facility as a corporal correctional officer. Then transferred to L.A.R.C., DOC in Lexington, as a Parole Investigator, Case Manager. He retired in 2018. He was very happy to receive his Kiowa Christmas elder payment when he celebrated his 62nd birthday.
Darren was a proud member of the Kiowa Tribe. He played basketball for Bell Gardens High School. He attended Indian Revival Center, Bell Gardens, CA. While in California, he grew up with our Valliere and Taylor families. Darren appreciated dancing with Dad with the Gourd Clan during the 4th of July. He was also an avid Lakers and Kansas State Jayhawks fan. Darren loved our family and his fur babies. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his sisters: Davetta Geimausaddle, Chickasha, OK, and Bobbie Jean Geimausaddle, Lawton/Cache, OK; cousins who are our brothers and sisters: Rhonda Jean and Aaron Ahhaitty, Colleen Feather, and Tami White, Mountain View, OK. Larry and Ruthie Edmonds, Lake Elsinore, CA and Lenny Edmonds, Mountain View, OK; uncles and aunties: Randy and Bonnie Edmonds, San Diego, CA., Sam and Ruby Horse, Del City, OK., Art Geimausaddle, Shawnee, OK, Wanda Geimausaddle, Hobart, OK, Pamela Justice, Georgia, Bruce Geimausaddle, Mountain View, OK, Denise Garcia, Carnegie, OK, Georgia Kopaddy, Hobart, OK, and David Geimausaddle, Mountain View, OK.; as well as by nephews and nieces: Joshua and Jerricka Aragon, Chickasha, OK, Isaiah Trujillo, Anadarko, OK, and Michael Trujillo, Oklahoma City, OK., Sunni (Kathleen) Geimausaddle, Norman, OK. Larry Tain Topaum, Lawton, OK, TyeDoe Topaum, Carnegie, OK., Bethany Ahhaitty, Mountain View, OK.
He was proud of all our grandchildren, especially awesome Peanut and our precious great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by our loving parents, Dave and Melva Gene (Tinetiah) Geimausaddle; precious brothers, David Keith Geimausaddle and Darrell Keith Edmonds; loving niece and nephew, Tshante (Goingsnake) Gonzalez and Isaac Jimenez; loving uncles and aunties: Bobby Geimausaddle, Red and Scrapper Prentiss, Russell Geimausaddle, Eva Marie Geimausaddle, Flora Geimausaddle, Keith Tinetiah, Buddy and Betty Tsonetokoy, John and Delores Thomas, and Wanda Marie Hummingbird. He is also preceded in death by loving grandparents: George and Beatrice Geimausaddle, May (Apekaum) Geimausaddle, Bell and Julia (Tsonetokoy) Lonewolf, Elvin and Mattie (Tsonetokoy) Tinetiah.
A Memorial service was held at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Ray & Martha's Funeral Home in Anadarko, OK.
