Martin Salazar, age 60, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025. He was born on September 25, 1965, in Clinton, Oklahoma, to Mary Espinosa and Frank Salazar, and from the very beginning he brought joy, laughter, and light to everyone around him.
Marty lived a life filled with love, loyalty, and genuine kindness. After graduating from Carnegie High School, he dedicated more than 33 years to Oxy Chem, where he built not just a career but lifelong friendships. As Coordinator of Operations and Maintenance, he was known for his steady guidance, strong work ethic, and his ability to make even the toughest days brighter with his humor.
A proud fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Oklahoma Sooners, Marty loved sharing game days with family and friends. But more than anything, he loved his family deeply. He had a gift for making others feel welcomed, valued, and cared for. His kindness, generosity, and warm spirit left a lasting mark on every life he touched.
Marty is survived by his devoted wife, Tracy Salazar, who was the love of his life; his cherished daughter, Dedra Walker, and her husband Michael Walker. He was a proud and loving PaPa to Izaya Negrete, Brendyn Salazar, Delilah Salazar, Kaydence Walker, and Weston Walker, each of whom brought him immense joy and filled his heart with pride.
He is also survived by his siblings: John Salazar and wife Alice “Butch” Salazar, Abel Salazar and wife Becky Salazar, Connie Ramos and husband Damaso Ramos, and Sylvia Eppihimer; along with brother-in-law Albert Garcia, sister-in-law Raquel Ponce, sister-in-law Loucreta Ponce, brother-in-law Jack Chambless and wife Mary Chambless, brother-in-law Darren Chambless and wife Angie Chambless, and many nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Marty.
He was welcomed into eternal rest by his parents Frank and Mary Salazar, siblings Frank Ponce, Juanita Garcia, and Ben Ponce; his mother-in-law Laketa Madsen and her husband John Madsen; and his father-in-law Doyle Chambless and his wife Ladonna Chambless.
Services will be held on November 22 at Deer Park Funeral Directors, 336 E San Augustine, Deer Park, Texas 77536. A private family viewing will begin at 12:00 p.m., followed by a visitation for friends at 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m.
